"she helped me build confidence in my voice that I had never envisioned possible" -current student
"She created a positive and encouraging class environment that made me look forward to class every week. I would recommend Julia to students of all experience levels.” - past student
Julia studied Opera, Acting, and Music in Education as a Presidential Scholar and Chadwick Medalist at New England Conservatory. In May she will graduate from NYU Steinhardt with a Masters degree in Musical Theater and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy.
Her number one goal as a voice teacher is to help her students learn how to share stories through singing, and create the techniques for lifelong singing. Her objective as a vocal technician is to help her students find their most natural authentic sound in order to produce their most comfortable singing. She teaches through an acting based approach, rooted in full body connection supported through breath support, posture, and a speech driven approach. She believes that the singing voice is much closer to the speaking voice than some might think, and encouraging our natural inflections to carry into our singing voices helps create our unique sounds.
Julia approaches singing with a holistic view and creates an inclusive, safe space to help students flourish into the artists they want to be. The singer's mind is often very critical and she believes approaching lessons in a positive light is the best way to foster growth.
